A 24 hr free and confidential support service to support you after sexual assault. The Sexual Assault Response Team comprises counsellors from the Sexual Assault Support Service – Townsville Region, detectives from the Sexual Crimes Unit, nurse examiners from the Clinical Forensic Medicine Unit, social work staff from Townsville University Hospital.
A crisis and ongoing counselling service for those who have been impacted by or experienced sexual assault.
Counselling is free and confidential.
Women can also access support through attending therapeutic group programs which are offered throughout the year.
Outreach is provided by the Sexual Assault Support Service to the regional towns of Ayr, Ingham and Charters Towers on a regular basis.
Self-referral is accepted and agencies can make an appointment with a specialist sexual assault counsellor. Call 47757555
The Sexual Assault Support Service can arrange an appointment with visiting agencies who deliver their services at The Women’s Centre. The services include legal clinics, Victim Assist Queensland, and a midwife service.
Sexual Assault prevention Information and education sessions can be provided to businesses, agencies and community groups by arrangement.
The Sexual Assault Support Services participates and encourages women’s activism through electronic messaging, banner making, tshirt printing and events.
